Central Texas Weekly Update - August 14th

Special session: Final days. The special session of the 85th Texas Legislature ends at 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, August 16. When Gov. Greg Abbott called lawmakers back to Austin for the 30-day special session, he gave them a list of 20 issues to address, including six related to real estate: municipal annexation reform, property tax reform, protecting landowners’ rights to remove trees on their property, expediting the local permitting process, local ordinance grandfathering (not allowing local governments to change development rules midway through a project), and a commission to study the public school finance system.
